External liaison officer of the University of Chile visited the Centre

On June 5, 2019, a delegation of four (4) people led by Prof. Luis Vargas Diaz, External liaison officer of the University of Chile visited the Centre. Prof. Weng Jingnong, Executive Director of the Centre, Dean of International School, Beihang University, warmly welcomed the guests.




Prof. Weng extended a warm welcome to Luis and other members on their visit and briefed the overall development of Beihang in the fields of talent cultivation, scientific research and global cooperation in recent years, and looking forward future educational cooperation with University of Chile in the fields of satellite communications, satellite navigation and small-satellite technology. Prof. Luis expressed his gratitude to the Centre for the hospitality and abridged teaching and research of the University of Chile in the field of space science. During the talks, both sides exchanged views mainly on short-term training and teacher exchanges. Heads of each professional direction of the Centre participated in the discussion.








After the meeting, the delegation paid a visit to the laboratories of small-satellite ground monitoring and control center, and Remote Sensing and GIS teaching; and facilities such as distance learning and video conference room, STA library, and training classrooms. Also, they checked the Centre construction development gallery, window display of Newsletters and publications, participant archives and graduation papers.








Founded in 1842, the University of Chile is one of the oldest and most prestigious public universities in Latin America, as well as being one of Beihang’s most important partners in Latin America. The university has many notable alumni, including twenty (20) Chilean presidents, two (2) Nobel Prize winners, and one hundred and eighty-seven (187) national laureates. It is ranked 208th according to the QS World University Rankings 2019. Beihang signed a memorandum of cooperation and student exchange agreement with the University of Chile in 2013.
