Adhering to the principle of openness and innovation, relying on Beihang’s disciplinary advantages and international education foundation, the Centre aims to build itself into a world-class space science and technology education institution, recruited teachers worldwide to build an international teaching team, integrated global high-quality education resources, set up a teaching management team, and established an information system for participants, alumni and experts. Besides, the Centre standardized the training process, set strict graduation standards, improved the evaluation and feedback mechanism of teachers, courses and management, held the educational lecture and participant forum at the first day of every semester, and formed a set of a management system to optimize the teaching effect and ensure the teaching quality.
In terms of course content design, the Centre referred to the modular curriculum scheme recommended by the United Nations, gave priority to the practical needs of countries in the Asia-Pacific region, gave play to China’s advantages in the field of space technology and application, and combined with the requirements of Graduate School of Beihang University on degree-awarding to comprehensively train participants’ research and application capabilities in space technology. In terms of faculties, all the teachers and supervisors of the Centre have overseas study background, domestic postgraduate teaching experience and scientific research experience closely combined with the application of space technology. The teachers are not only from Beihang University, but also integrated from other high-quality teaching resources at home and abroad. As for the dissertation, the thesis topic selected by the participants was targeting at the application needs of space technology in different countries. The MASTA and DOCSTA participants were allowed to choose to complete the dissertation research at Beihang University or in their own country.
From 2015 to 2019, the Centre has invited more than 30 International experts from the United States, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Croatia, Singapore, Mexico, and the UNOOSA and more than 140 national expert from Beihang University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, China Agricultural University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing Institute of Technology, China University of Political Science and Law, National Disaster Reduction Center of China (NDRCC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Academy of Space Technology, China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, Beijing Unistrong Science & Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing BDStar Navigation Co., Ltd, and other well-known colleges and universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises to teach participants. The courses taught by the experts cover professional fields such as Remote Sensing Technology and Applications, Satellite Communications, Global Navigation Satellite System, Micro-Satellite Technology and Space Law and Policy, etc.
