On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Beihang University, a Space Technology Applications Forum was held by the Centre on October 27th, 2017. More than thirty (30) people including teachers and student representatives were invited to attend. The forum was hosted by Mr. Weng Jingnong, Deputy Director of the Centre and Dean of International School, Beihang University.
On the forum, Mr. Chalermchon Satirapod, Head of Survey Engineering Department, Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Ms. Lu Xiaochun, Deputy Director of National Time Service Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Deputy Director of BeiDou International Cooperation Research Center (China), Mr. Sheikh Tawhidul Islam, Professor and Director of IRS-JU, Jahangirnagar University (Bangladesh), Mr. Jing Guifei, Dean of BeiDou Belt & Road School, Beihang University (China) delivered reports respectively, introducing the current situations and development visions of China, Thailand and Bangladesh on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and Geospatial Information Application, especially on Precision Location Services Network of the Belt and Road and long-term plan of BeiDou Belt & Road School.
In order to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Beihang University, this forum provided a great platform for international exchanges on space technology applications. It also sent a message to the world that Beihang University would building an open, innovative and internationalized school through collaboration with leading universities in the Belt and Road countries, which was expected to nurture interdisciplinary talents with proficient expertise and cutting-edge skills in satellite navigation and related fields for different countries in the world.
